Nottingham is a bold, vibrant, and exciting Core City, at the heart of the UK – alive with potential and ambition – though not one without its challenges. Nottingham City Council has faced up to these significant challenges, approaching the future with courage, energy, and a clear plan to put things right for the people of Nottingham. Our vision is of a bold transformation to deliver meaningful change for our residents, and we’re determined to get there.
We’ve made a promising start, with the Commissioners’ report last summer recognising our substantial progress. Our new Chief Executive has fostered a unified, dynamic approach to transformation, allowing us to pick up the pace still further. We’ve come a long way, but know that there is more to do, which is why we’re recruiting a cohort of new senior leaders who will accelerate our momentum, and ensure we achieve our ambitious vision at even greater pace.
In this vital role, you’ll provide expert advice to elected members and colleagues, as well as giving strategic and operational direction to three key service areas: Procurement; Strategy, Insight and Company Governance; and Commercial and Contracts.
We need someone who can support the Council to achieve high quality and value for money in everything we do, by ensuring that the division is well-run, well-managed and responsive. You’ll be an active player in all commercial, procurement and contract management activity, including Council-owned and arm’s-length companies, and a regular participant at shareholder and partnership boards.
Candidates must have significant experience in the directorate areas, as well as extensive practical procurement and contract management experience. You must have relevant professional qualifications (MCIPS and IACCM or equivalent), and bring a sophisticated level of commercial acumen and system level insight.
