About the Council

 

 

Nottingham City Council is a democratic organisation, with 55 Councillors representing electors in the 20 electoral wards in the City of Nottingham. There is a local election every four years when all 55 seats are contested.

 

Political Make-Up

Our 55 councillors represent the following parties:

  • 50 Labour Group Councillors
  • 3 Nottingham Independent Group Councillors
  • 2 Independent Group Councillors

The Labour Group, with the most number of councillors, currently has control of the council.

  • Pay – We are committed to paying rates that are in-line with regional and national averages, with clear pay structures and consistent salary levels. Our current pay package operates on two levels within the grade, with senior leaders moving to the second point of the grade on their two-year anniversary with Nottingham City Council. We are currently in the process of reviewing and broadening our pay package.
