Nottingham is a bold, vibrant, and exciting Core City, at the heart of the UK – alive with potential and ambition – though not one without its challenges. Nottingham City Council has faced up to these significant challenges, approaching the future with courage, energy, and a clear plan to put things right for the people of Nottingham. Our vision is of a bold transformation to deliver meaningful change for our residents, and we’re determined to get there.
We’ve made a promising start, with the Commissioners’ report last summer recognising our substantial progress. Our new Chief Executive has fostered a unified, dynamic approach to transformation, allowing us to pick up the pace still further. We’ve come a long way, but know that there is more to do, which is why we’re recruiting a cohort of new senior leaders who will accelerate our momentum, and ensure we achieve our ambitious vision at even greater pace.
As Corporate Director, you’ll provide strategic and operational direction to the Growth and City Development Directorate, encompassing Economic Development, Planning and Transport, Regeneration, as well as Property and Housing.
These services are the building blocks that will drive forward Nottingham’s ambition to be a world-class city, and you’ll maximise their impact to make that ambition a reality. You’ll rapidly become a visible, expert figure in the region and beyond, as a senior adviser on strategic growth to elected members, colleagues and external partners. And you’ll be at the heart of Nottingham’s response to the Government’s Devolution White Paper.
We’re looking for an exceptional candidate with the experience, technical knowledge and interest in city growth to drive Nottingham forward. A track record of developing and implementing relevant strategy and policy is essential. Your professional skillset – people management, budgets and finance, planning and programme management – must be very strong, and you must also be able to build and influence powerful strategic partnerships.
