The Deputy Head of Planning holds responsibility for Development Management, Specialist Planning functions (including Conservation and Enforcement) and Technical Support. You will provide strategic support to the Assistant Director of Planning in helping to ensure that the planning function (including Planning Policy) operates in a joined-up manner. The post is responsible for the management, delivery and operational improvement of the Development Management Service including determining planning applications in accordance with the up-to-date Borough Local Plan, performance targets, defending appeals and delivering service quality.

You will be responsible for a highly motivated and enthusiastic team who will be looking to you for leadership and support.  Aside from providing a breadth and depth of planning expertise, we’ll need you to demonstrate a firm commitment to individual and team development, whilst retaining a clear focus on providing a high quality and responsive service.
