About the Place

This is a borough with a world-class cultural and leisure offer including Chelsea, Fulham and QPR football clubs, and theatres and concert halls like the Hammersmith Eventim Apollo, Lyric, and Shepherd’s Bush Empire. Our historic riverside features in movies such as ‘Sliding Doors’ and the latest James Bond film, ‘No Time to Die’.

We want to ensure that major developments at Earl’s Court, Old Oak Common HS2 Station, and our new Civic Campus, support our industrial strategy. We are developing economic ecosystems that attract a mix of firms and facilities in our target sectors, located alongside thriving vibrant mixed-income communities who enjoy the continuing regeneration of town centres such as Fulham, Hammersmith, and Shepherd’s Bush.

Education

There are now 55 schools in Hammersmith & Fulham Council including both community and faith schools.

Hammersmith & Fulham has a strong record of educational success. Many of our primary schools are judged by OFSTED as ‘outstanding’ or ‘good.’

We’ve secured more than 1,400 genuinely affordable homes in the borough at zero cost to taxpayers.
We have a joint venture with Imperial College London which aims to make H&F a leading destination for the biotech, digital and creative industries.
We have taken urgent action to combat climate change by pledging to cut CO2 emissions from the council’s activities to net zero by 2030. In doing so, we have already made huge strides towards becoming the greenest borough in Britain.
Our response to the current cost of living crisis includes a number of practical, focused actions. Significantly, we have frozen (already low) council tax bills for 2022-23 – making us one of only two councils in London to freeze bills this year. We’re continuing to provide free home care for older and disabled residents, having scrapped charges in 2014. And this year, the council also approved £7.5million of new investment on key services for residents, as well as freezing charges in adult social care, children’s services and housing.
