Together for Families

About Us

We are devoted to supporting children and young people in Cornwall in achieving and having access to all possible opportunities to secure brighter futures.  Our services work together to promote positive outcomes for all children, whatever their circumstances, and enable them to be healthy, safe and thrive in their life journey to adulthood.

Our success is reinforced by our strong commitment to working together as an integrated service and with our partners and other agencies to ensure the best possible start for children and young people now and in the future.

Our Service

Together for Families is made up of three service areas with Business support embedded across these services. Our service areas work together as an integrated model of practice to promote, protect and improve the health, education and wellbeing of children and young people.

  • Children and Families
Our Children and Families Service is the Council lead for safeguarding children and young people.  We support families and work with others to not only deliver the Council’s statutory duties to help and protect vulnerable children, but to engage with our families at the earliest opportunity, ensuring the right help at the right time. Our services include the Multi Agency Referral Unit, Early Help Hub, adoption and fostering, specialist therapy teams, social work teams, youth justice, children's rights and safeguarding standards.

  • Education and Community Health
Our Education and Community Health Service brings together two of the key functions of our integrated model.  Our Education Team works with schools and educational settings to meet educational standards and statutory obligations as set out by the Department for Education.  Our community health service provides health visiting and school nursing services.  At the heart of our Community Health Service is a strong focus on the best start in life, recognising the first 1001 days as the critical period for growth, stability and development for children.   Our Community Health Teams are an integral part of services delivered from our family hubs and play a part of the wider services in safeguarding and protecting children, adopting the principles of good assessment, targeted support and collaboration with other services to ensure all children have the best start in life.

  • Business Support, Integrated Systems and Performance
Our Business Support and Performance Teams provide integrated support to services across People Services – both Together for Families and Care and Wellbeing Directorates.  This includes support delivered through the following teams: frontline services including records management; financial and establishment control; complaints and information governance; regulatory and communications.  Importantly, the management, configuration and helpdesk support for the case management systems used across People Services including all statutory and performance reporting is managed within BSISP.

  • Integrated People Commissioning
Our People Commissioning Team manages commissioned resources across all People Services, both Together for Families and Care & Wellbeing Directorates.  Our People Commissioning Team leads the commissioning of provision for all ages, including starting well, living well and ageing well.  The Team plays a key role within the wider health and social care partnerships in driving integrated delivery of social care, health and wellbeing services for children across Cornwall, underpinned by excellent coordination, relationship-building and partnership agreements.
