West Sussex has a vibrant and diverse economy worth around £27 billion and employing around 390,000 people in around 37,000 businesses.
The County’s local authorities, business community, skills and education sectors have come together to create the West Sussex Economic Growth Board (WSEGB) as a vehicle to spearhead future economic growth taking advantage of the area’s business and economic assets. It will also need to be creative to mitigate barriers to future growth and investment.
We are looking for an outstanding independent Chair, to lead the new WSEGB. This strategic leadership position will play a key role in galvanising the West Sussex economy working with other Board members, businesses, local and national government.
The Chair will be well-recognised locally and nationally, as an independent business voice with a significant track record of strategic leadership and operational management at the highest level in the private sector. They will have proven ability to chair boards or committees in high profile and politically sensitive environments, demonstrating sound judgement and a collaborative approach to working with partners and stakeholders.
With outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, the Chair will also act as an ambassador and advocate for West Sussex particularly with government, investors, and key decision makers in the public and private sectors.
