You’ll lead the Financial Services Division which provides customer focused, cost-effective accounting and financial services to colleagues across the council, as well as fulfilling our corporate finance responsibilities. We’ve developed a genuine Business Partner culture, and you’ll relish the opportunity to continuously improve our financial management, planning and reporting. But that’s not all: you’ll also act as Deputy Section 151 Officer, ready to support and deputise for the Strategic Director Resources on every aspect of this statutory role. Another significant aspect of the role will be budget planning – preparing sophisticated scenarios for revenue and capital programmes, as well as overseeing the Medium-Term Financial Plan. You’ll also carry out annual budget preparation for all service areas, which will require extensive engagement with Strategic Directors and management teams. And (as night follows day), you’ll be responsible for the annual closure of accounts process, statutory accounts and reports of the Council and Joint Committees
