We are looking for a permanent Executive Director Quality and Clinical Care, to become a trusted member of our Executive team. You will report to and act as a trusted advisor to our inspirational CEO, Ruth Owen OBE, to shape and influence the ambitious future direction of our organisation.

You will lead Leonard Cheshire’s UK quality assurance and governance framework, delivering continuous quality improvement, regulatory and contract compliance and effective clinical care across our social care services. A corporate player with responsibility for a Directorate of Quality Improvement, you will provide exceptional leadership to a respected and established team.  You will be a corporate player, working collaboratively and proactively with corporate colleagues and stakeholders, leading on the CQC relationship to develop improvement plans.  As part of the senior leadership team, you will attend Board meetings, bringing your specialisms, skills and knowledge to participate in the broader executive agenda.   

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and add value to the role, building teams across the organisation and externally, leading from the front on quality and clinical practice. The role requires an individual with senior leadership experience as a Quality Director (or similar) in a large social care provider, where you will have supported care services to achieve sustained quality improvement through effective leadership.  You will have experience of developing and overseeing governance and quality assurance systems, working with executive and trustee boards.  Conversant with national regulatory standards and expectations within the health and social care sector across the UK, you will have in-depth knowledge of current health and social care legislation, policy and practice and will ideally be clinically qualified. Highly effective leadership and communication skills to motivate and inspire staff are essential.

About You

Expertise

  • You will possess senior leadership experience as a Quality Director in a large social care provider, including:
    • supporting care services to achieve sustained quality improvement through effective leadership
    • delivering care service quality and compliance turnarounds
    • developing and overseeing governance and quality assurance systems in social care delivery
    • working with executive and trustee boards to provide senior-level quality and governance assurance.
  • You will:
    • be conversant with national regulatory standards and expectations within the health and social care sector across the UK
    • have in-depth knowledge of current health and social care legislation, policy and practice, ideally within all four UK nations
    • have demonstrable leadership and communication skills to motivate and inspire staff to maintain and improve their practice
    • be clinically qualified.

  • You will be an experienced, change-focused leader committed to continuous improvement.
  • This role may involve travel between various offices and operational locations, along with some overnight stays.
  • In this role you must be a fit and proper person under Regulation 5 of the Health and Social Care Act (Regulated Activities) Regulations 2014.
