Sheffield is a brilliant city – resourceful, inventive, welcoming – a place rooted in its history and ambitious for the future. It’s a place full of potential and we are working hard to create a council that works with residents, communities and businesses to unleash that potential.

We are stepping up to provide leadership across the city, working in partnership to drive ambitious goals for a bright future, renewing our relationships with our diverse communities and bringing decision making closer to local people through our Local Area Committees.

With a strong and experienced Neighbourhoods Senior Leadership Team in place, the Assistant Director of Highways role presents an opportunity to join us on this journey of change. You will be part of an ambitious, dynamic and talented team, who are passionate about creating places for Sheffield’s diverse people and communities that are attractive, innovative, sustainable, and safe.

This role is for an experienced highways manager, someone who understands and enables our organisational culture of putting people and communities at the heart of everything we do. This means working together in effective partnership with Amey, the Streets Trees Partnerships and local communities to improve the quality of our streets and environment.

You will use your experience and technical knowledge to lead strategically, shaping the future direction of the Highways Maintenance service, implement and inform service delivery, whilst also leading and developing technical teams.

It’s a great time to join us and we welcome your application.
