Reporting to the Director of Economy and Infrastructure, this role will manage four Heads of Service and a Group Manager:

  • Head of Waste and Recycling
  • Head of Public Realm
  • Head of Highway Infrastructure
  • Head of Highway Management
  • Group Manager - Climate Change and Sustainability

While this role isn’t purely focused on climate change, the services you’ll lead will be firmly set within that context.

Candidates should have extensive practical experience of leading the Environmental and Highway Services portfolio (including waste), be highly skilled at procuring and managing major and complex contracts, and have a passion for environmental sustainability. Excellent partnership working is a must, and we're looking for an experienced and credible leader for this important and highly scrutinised service. A strong and inspiring leader, and an effective practical and strategic contributor to the directorate leadership team, you'll rapidly become indispensable.
