Opportunities with London Borough of Harrow

Thank you for your interest in the Director of Housing role at the London Borough of Harrow.

On the outskirts of London, with one of the most ethnically and religiously diverse populations in the country, Harrow offers excellent transport connections to central London, as well as extensive parks and green spaces. It’s this mix of town and country that makes it such a thriving, modern, and inclusive area, where people and families from many different backgrounds are building their futures. Teamed with all of this, there is a strong collaborative culture within the Council and with our partners to deliver the services that matter most for our residents.

As our new Director of Housing, you will provide exemplary strategic and operational leadership across the division. You will hold overall responsibility for the management of all housing services, including the allocation of council homes, repairs and asset management, fire and building safety, and our homelessness and temporary accommodation services. Leading a dedicated workforce of approximately 250 employees and managing a Housing Revenue Account budget in the order of £32m, you will be a key driver in ensuring our estates are sustainable, safe, and community-focused.

We are at an important juncture in our journey with a new senior management team in place and a positive financial position, which is enabling renewed investment in our homes and estates.  This role offers an exciting opportunity to join a thriving team and continue our journey, including pioneering key strategies—from Asset Management to Resident Engagement—that will shape the future of housing in Harrow. We are looking for a leader who can navigate political environments with acumen, foster a culture of innovation, and put our residents at the heart of every decision we make to meet the needs of our diverse community.

If you are a committed, resilient, and collaborative leader, passionate about delivering high-quality housing services and with a clear vision to put our residents first, then we would love to hear from you.
