Welcome to Surrey

Thank you for your interest in this important and deeply rewarding role.

Surrey County Council is clear about its focus and ambitions. We are determined to achieve our goal of becoming a sector-leading council, relentlessly pushing for improvement and always going the extra mile to enhance our residents’ lives.

We’ve made a promise that ‘no-one in Surrey will be left behind’, and we’re going to keep it.

Nowhere is keeping that promise more important than in the services overseen by our new Executive Director of Adults, Wellbeing, Health and Partnerships. And while we know that service design and delivery is becoming ever more complex and multi-faceted for providers, those we serve still experience it one day, and one person, at a time. We must always keep the person at the heart of our practice.

While we’re determined to use innovation and transformative thinking to continually improve our practice, we also recognise that if there were a magic solution, someone would probably have found it by now. What really makes the difference is teams of motivated and well-supported professionals, with a profound care for service users, clear objectives, transparent performance indicators, and a genuinely collaborative relationship with partners. That’s what we want you to deliver.

This role operates at significant scale, with a headcount in four figures and a budget that's just under half of our total expenditure. We are looking forward to meeting candidates with a track record of success in a comparable job, and who are excited at this rare opportunity to join a highly innovative, outcome-focused and tenacious leadership group.
