Just 30 minutes west of Birmingham, sits the borough of Dudley, the historical capital of the Black Country, with its rich industrial heritage that forged the heart of the industrial revolution - a history steeped in innovation, drive and determination.
Fast forward to the present and those historical traits are embedded within the modern culture of Dudley and the borough is a vibrant, multi-cultural hub with strong communities, beautiful parks and open spaces and a mix of shops and restaurants.
Currently at the heart of a multi-million-pound regeneration plan, there is significant investment in the borough with several key projects including the new Midland Metro infrastructure, a new Institute of Technology and a very light rail innovation centre.
This is an exciting opportunity as a Director of Environment to transform the way Dudley works to meet the changing needs of their residents and businesses. You will have a successful record of achievement at a senior level in delivering a portfolio of highly visible, frontline services, developing strong working relationships with a range of stakeholders and using your influencing and persuasive skills to foster joint initiatives. Your strong procurement and contract management skills will identify new ways of delivering services, to include an effective capital investment programme aligned to our strategic priorities and bids to external funding bodies.
Dudley are seeking an inspirational leader to cultivate an open and trusting culture, who will balance strategic leadership and direction with effective operational management, lead change through others and inspire high levels of performance. You will have strong procurement and contract management skills, political acumen, experience of managing significant budgets and commercial nous to identify potential opportunities to generate income.
If you have the experience Dudley requires, a strong commitment to inclusivity and diversity and thrive in an environment providing exceptional customer care and high-quality, value for money services to our residents, then Dudley would love to hear from you.
