Welcome Letter from Craig McArdle, Corporate Director for Adults and Health

Thank you for your interest in joining Buckinghamshire Council as our new Service Director of Adult Social Care. We are looking for someone to join our organisation who is committed to making a positive difference in the lives of adults and their families across Buckinghamshire.
 
Buckinghamshire Council was created on the 1st of April 2020 from a merger of five predecessor organisations and is one of the largest single unitary authorities in the UK. This is an exciting time to join us as we continue our journey.  
 
This position offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic leadership and direction, operational management, and financial control for the Adult Social Care service areas. Working closely alongside me, you will collaborate at scale across the whole directorate to drive these changes and deliver our ambitions for Buckinghamshire.  
 
We expect you to bring a high degree of political awareness and commitment to working closely with all councillors, local organisations, and communities to ensure we meet the needs of our service users. 
 
If you join us, you will be accountable for the performance of the Adult Social Care Operational service area and the delivery of high-quality strategic aims. You will be an active member of the Adults & Health Senior Leadership team with collective responsibility for the managerial leadership of the function, encouraging a culture that promotes the values and behaviours of the council.  
 
As an experienced leader, you will be confident in using your knowledge of the national policy context, regulatory environment, financial legislation, and issues facing the functional area to drive transformational organisational change to achieve excellent member, customer and partner relationships while delivering cost-effective, high-quality services to residents.

An adaptable, transparent approach is necessary for this pivotal role, and you will use your ability to influence as the lead specialist advisor to the Corporate Director of Adults & Health, the relevant Lead Member or Members and the Corporate Leadership Team and Council on all matters relating to the role.
