Nottingham is a bold, vibrant, and exciting Core City at the heart of the UK, alive with potential and ambition. Nottingham City Council has faced up to significant challenges, and we’re approaching the future with courage, energy, and a clear plan to deliver meaningful change for our residents. Underpinning our rapid progress is a comprehensive transformation of our financial systems and governance. Now we’re looking for a number of key individuals to continue building on our achievements to date, and make us an exemplar of financial practice.
We are investing in an expert group of Strategic Finance Business Partners who will support the new Director of Finance (Strategy) in implementing the new operating model. This team will work closely with service leaders to ensure best practice in financial planning, monitoring and risk mitigation, and will be critical to achieving our overall objectives. Supported by specialist teams producing data, analysis and modelling as required, you’ll offer high-level financial insight and practical advice, influencing Directors and service departments to optimise resource allocation, shape financial strategies, and drive operational excellence.
Candidates will need excellent financial understanding, strong influencing and communication skills, and ideally experience in a relevant service delivery directorate. With an impressive track record of embedding sound financial management and a nuanced understanding of local government finance, as well as the specific circumstances of our city, you’ll be a credible and innovative expert with ambition to develop your career.
