At Essex County Council, we look after a large, diverse, complex region of the country. But our approach to creating a place where individuals, families and communities can thrive and prosper is simple.
We recruit creative, ambitious, talented people, and free them up to think – and deliver – big.
We’ve made substantial changes in recent years, reorganising how we’re structured and how we work, so we can protect the most vulnerable and enable our economy to grow.
Join us and you’ll be trusted to take control, manage change and make a lasting impact. You’ll be able to call upon external partners and suppliers to help you deliver. More importantly, talented, trailblazing colleagues – including many industry-leaders – will be right by your side to share ideas, knowledge and experience.
And we don’t stand still. It’s the only way to solve tomorrow’s challenges and embrace the opportunities to come. Change is healthy. We don’t just live with, we create it.

Essex County Council is made up of 75 elected members, and is currently governed by the Conservative group. The Council Leader is Kevin Bentley. The Council composition is currently as follows:
Essex is an extraordinary county for many reasons. We’re proud to serve the people and communities that live, work and study here. They are what make our county truly unique.
Over the past three years, we've achieved many successes. In the coming months we'll demonstrate the real impact we've had on residents and communities through the commitments outlined in Everyone’s Essex – our plan for improving the county.
We'll shine a spotlight on the breadth of work we do including the lesser-known areas that make a real difference to people's lives every day.
Extraordinary Essex includes the Employability and Skills Team. The team run the We Rise youth movement that helps young people aged 16 to 25-years-old remove barriers that are preventing them from reaching their career goals and raise aspirations. It lets them meet training providers and career advisors about the crucial next steps in their lives.
