Status:

Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Economic Forum

Home to a globally renowned natural environment, world-class tech, critical minerals, and renewable energy sectors alongside cutting-edge digital infrastructure, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are helping to shape the society of the future.  By mobilising our considerable natural and cultural assets and social capital, our aim is to realise our region’s full potential, grow skilled career opportunities and deliver inclusive growth for the benefit of our communities.

The Cornwall and Isles of Scilly Economic Forum will be established in June 2024. Private sector-led, it is a partnership between the private and public sectors and is responsible for directly influencing how Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly grows. This includes advising Cornwall Council and the Council of the Isles of Scilly on local economic priorities and monitoring policy, working closely on the development of labour market and skills strategies and inspiring and championing projects to drive growth and the creation of high-quality local jobs.

The Forum is seeking an independent Chair to provide strategic leadership, challenge and support to the partnership, convening stakeholders across the private and public sector, harnessing skills, expertise and experience to create an effective body that will help drive greater economic success.

This is an outstanding opportunity to influence the economic fortunes of a unique and special part of the country.  We’re looking for a respected leader who has operated successfully at the highest levels of corporate life with an understanding of how business interfaces with the public sector and who will be recognised as a credible and independent voice of business.

Whilst it is not necessary to be a resident of the area, we expect you will have a knowledge of and a passion for Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and share our ambition to realise our region’s full potential.
