A large unitary local authority is seeking an experienced Interim Service Director of Housing to provide leadership, stability and strategic direction across its housing function during a period of transition.

Operating within a non-stock-holding environment, the role focuses on strengthening homelessness and temporary accommodation services, improving performance and service resilience, and developing effective partnerships with Registered Providers to support affordable housing delivery.

The successful candidate will undertake a rapid assessment of the service, identify risks and improvement priorities, rebuild key stakeholder relationships, and help shape a forward-looking affordable housing strategy aligned to wider place, regeneration and growth ambitions. The assignment requires a credible senior housing leader with strong operational expertise, political awareness and the ability to provide confidence, practical delivery focus and professional advice to senior officers and elected members.
